An artist named Paul Wright came into the university to talk about his work.

This was very interesting for me because he talked about what he does, why, inspirations and how he sees his images and what he is trying to portray. One interesting thing i found out about his work is that all his images are created on one day. Being a practicing photographer i found this very interesting as this is true to any single image, it depicts the mood you are in and your thoughts and feelings on any particular day with a piece of art. Paul’s reasons for completion of art in one day is so that the feelings of him as an individual on that day are very much signified in the image created. This artist said he destroyed a lot of his work which he said helps his creation’s, this is as much his art as the art we see because ultimately this shows in the images he creates.

As a practising photographer i found it very interesting how Paul felt about having to do what he is doing because he wants to. He told us that sometimes he will see a face and have to paint this persons face which very much links to how i see photography, it has to be done even if its just a way for myself to try to make sense of things or people around us.

Another thing i found interesting in Paul’s work is the texture of the paintings and the colour’s of the skin. Some of his images to me look as though the skin isn’t as he has seen it, there are some different colours seen. This has inspired me and i have begun to think about a piece where i could incorporate other people into one face in order to see the differences in peoples skin tones and colours. The way in which i would do this initially is to photograph 10 people and cut the images into very small pieces. I would then stick these onto card in a way that represents a face creating an image of a person created by different people. The reason i want to explore this is just to see how it looks visually, it would also present how different every induvidual is while also portraying how very much the same we are in terms of head size, and where our eyes, mouth etc are.
